Injuries caused by hard impact or accidents
If you have sustained an impact to the neck then you should seek medical advice from a doctor or sports injury specialist immediately. Injuries to the neck can cause paralysis.
Pain in the neck which does not radiate
Have you:
- Pain in the neck which makes it difficult for you to move your head?
Pain radiating from the neck
Have you:
- Deep pain in the neck which radiates into the shoulder, arms or fingers?
- Pain radiating up the neck into the head?
- Pain in the neck causing dizziness or headaches?
Winged Scapula / Long thoracic nerve damage
Have you:
- A 'winged' or sticking out scapula or shoulder blade?
- A scapula that sticks out when pressing against a wall?
- Difficulty lifting weights?
- A feeling of pressure on the shoulder blade when sitting in a chair?
Inflammation of muscle attachments in the upper back and neck
Have you:
- Pain in the upper back during and after exercise especially between the shoulder blades?
- Pain when you press into the bony bits on the spine?
Tight upper back and neck muscles
Have you:
- General aching and pain between the shoulder blades and up into the neck?
Scheuermann's disease (roundback)
Have you:
- Noticed your upper back becoming more rounded?
- Fatigue and pain in the upper back?
